Life Update : 3 weeks on

Hi Guys,

I was so much better at updating before I moved to Kerry… But I’m back home now for the time being so here’s to more posts, with more interesting content than what has been happening in my life…

So, I am home. Back with my family after spending the most amazing summer working with the most INCREDIBLE group of people. I turned 21 a week before I finished there, turning 21 is a big thing in Ireland, I’m not so sure about the rest of the world though.. On the morning of my birthday, we had a staff meeting,  the usual stuff, I hadn’t had enough coffee yet so I was all picture no sound, when out of one of the offices came one of my managers, with a cake and 21 birthday candles. The entire place started singing me happy birthday. I genuinely nearly died of embarrassment!! It was one of the nicest things that could have happened me that day, I was away from my family and feeling a little bit lonely and that made my day. In addition to getting me a cake (with my name on it for the first time EVER), they all chipped in and bought me two beautiful Pandora charms for my bracelet that my parents bought me for my 18th. I still don’t have the words to describe how much it meant.

Birthday at work

Since I have decided not to go back to college in September to finish my degree, once I finished my contract, I am looking for a job. People keep telling me that the world is my oyster, I know it is but it can be hard to believe it sometimes. If you have followed my blog for a while, you will have gathered that my mental health can be questionable at times and waking up on Monday morning knowing I didn’t have a job to go to was incredibly tough. I am the type of person who loves to be working, I am well able to relax when I have my time off and I really do enjoy my nights out but I like work. I think it is the routine that suits me. While in Kerry, my Grandad would wake me up at 7.15 every morning, telling me it was 7.30.. I’d then get up around 7.45, get myself ready and go to work for the day. My evenings could be spent on the beach, hanging out with my grandparents, hanging out with my aunt and cousins or cuddling the dogs on the couch.. It depended on the evening. My existence for the last 3 months may seem like  a quiet one but it has suited me down to the ground.

I have applied for a number of jobs over the last few weeks and there is one in particular I really want, based in Belfast and doing something I think I’d excel at. If you believe in God, send me your prayers, if not, any good luck wishes would be much appreciated as I try to figure out where I go next.

I promise my next post will be more exciting!

Thanks for reading,

Love always,

Kathy ❤

Life update

Hey guys,

By my clock, its been exactly 30 days since I wrote. I have meant to sit down and write so many times and have realized for once, I don’t have some drama or struggle to document. I am having the best summer I have had in years, completely different to previous years and yet the most liberating. I haven’t felt so much myself in a very long time.

This time last year, I was suffering big time with my mental health, I was in a bad relationship, was going through some family stuff and was attempting to study for my repeats, all while on a family holiday in West Cork. This year, I am writing this from my bed, snapchatting videos of myself singing and dancing to one of my best friends (Yes, I’m talking about you Mairtin), despite the fact I need to get up in 7 and a half hours for work..

Getting away from my life is exactly what I needed to do to see what I want to do with it.. I still have absolutely no idea what I want to be when I grow up, or where I’ll be living in a months time, but this time, it doesn’t scare the beejsus out of me, I am terrified, but its an excited terrified.

This evening I came in from work and sat down on the couch with the dog curled up on top of me, when my Gran suggested we went out to the beach with the dogs. As soon as we got there, it started to rain. She went for a paddle in the sea while I took the two dogs up the beach. When I was walking, I realized I was walking away from the rain and towards the sun on the beach. It reminded me of the song Chasing the Sun by The Wanted. It was myself and my friend Ciara’s anthem of the summer yearsss ago and I threw it on on Spotify. This resulted in my singing and dancing my way back down the beach, looking like a crazy person and being totally in my element!!

This lighthearted person who isn’t afraid to look like an eejit is who I am and due various reasons, I lost sight of that… But  I’M BACK BABYYYY.

Thanks for reading,

Love always,

Kathy ❤

Liebster Award Nomination

Hey guys!!

As you can probably tell by the title, I GOT NOMINATED FOR A LIEBSTER AWARD by the wonderful Candidlyangel (Thank you again by the way!). Clearly I’m only slightly excited by this.. 😛  I  only started blogging at the end of May and I haven’t used any of my social media platforms to boost my readers so I really appreciate each and every person who takes their time to read, like and follow my blog! The only person who I have told about my blog is my boyfriend who hasn’t even been allowed to read it yet!

The Liebster Award is an award given to bloggers by bloggers in an attempt to boost each others blog! The award is given to new bloggers with less than 200 followers and the rules are pretty simple! 🙂

The Rules:

  1. Thank the blog who nominated you and link it back to them
  2. Nominate 11 other blogs to receive the award
  3. Answer the 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you
  4. Tell the readers 11 facts about yourself
  5. Give your nominees 11 questions to answer about themselves

My nominees:

  1. College life when you’re 5″ nothing
  2. Teiya Oloilole
  3. Joy’s Travel
  4. Plant-Based, World Bound
  5. Love Travelling
  6. Style and a Half
  7. Greasy to Gilded
  8. The Confessions of a Wanderer
  9. Happy At Twelve
  10. A Girl’s Voyage
  11. Anyone else who would like to complete the task! 🙂

The questions I was asked:

  1. What is your favorite quote/motto? Why?

When I was leaving school, my French teacher signed my yearbook with “souriez à la vie et la vie te sourit” which loosely translates as ‘smile at life and life will smile at you’. I really like this as it inspires my to be positive when things seem to be looking down! 🙂

2. If you can be a new character in a show/series/movie (or anything that is shown on a screen), what would it be and what kind of role would you play?

I would most definitely be the badass who beats everyone (who deserves it) up! 🙂

3. If you could have personally witnessed anything, what would you like to have seen?

I know I should have some deep response to this question, in reality if I could have seen anything, I would have liked to have been at my parent’s wedding.. My great-grandmother was there and so was my grandfather who has since passed away. I would have loved to see my parents get married, maybe its the hopeless romantic in me!

4. What is the strangest name someone has introduced themselves as to you? What is their real name?

Ok so not an exact answer to this but when I was in first year, my friend was introducing herself to people and said ‘Hi, my name is Abigail’ to one of the girls in our year, the girl responded with ‘Agaba, that’s a nice name….’ From then I affectionately called Abigail Agaba! 🙂

5. What type of music do you listen to? Who are your favorite artists?

This question is something I don’t ever have an answer to! 😛 I am currently listening to Michael Franti & Spearhead – The Sound Of Sunshine but I will literally listen to pretty much anything excluding rap and heavy metal! I love artists from Bruce Springsteen to Walking on Cars to Bruno Mars to Taylor Swift! My tastes are pretty varied! 🙂

6. If you could marry a fictional character, who would you marry? Or if you don’t want to marry anyone, which fictional character do you believe is the most like yourself?

There are fictional characters who I admire simply because the actors who play them are insanely attractive.. As to who I believe is most like me? I honestly don’t know! I am me! 🙂

7. What are your life and career goals in the present and in 10 years?

When I was younger, I wanted to be an equine physiotherapist, then I wanted to be a doctor, now I am studying Commerce and Spanish… A bit of a difference! A part of me regrets not studying for medicine and trying to become a doctor so who knows if I will go back to college and study GEM. I am also considering doing a postgraduate degree/ masters in Law as it is the element of commerce that I am enjoying the most at the moment!

I would like to be married in 10 years time and to have traveled the world with the person I love. Work wise, I want to be doing something I love!

8. For you, what is the more logical to follow – your heart of your brain?

For me the most logical thing to do would be to follow my head but as a hopeless romantic I am ruled by my heart! I also believe strongly in things and I believe that these beliefs don’t come from my head, but my heart.

9. If you had met me before, how would you describe me?

I haven’t met you 🙂

10. What is the funniest thing you have ever done?

The funniest thing I have ever done? I have no idea! Some of the most fun I have had include spending a month in Valencia, Spain last summer with one of by best friends Grace.

11. If you could read minds, whose would you want to read?

The person who is going to get a 1.1 in my exams in college!
